Joann Kress

Joann Kress, MHA, BSN, RN, is the service line director for Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Services at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center. Her areas of responsibility include overseeing diagnostic testing for cardiology and neurology, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and invasive procedures for interventional cardiology (angiogram, angioplasty, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, intervention for acute heart attack) and interventional neurology (clot removal and coiling for stroke rescue, carotid stenting and cerebral aneurysm repair).

For the first 15 years of her career, Joann worked in human resources before making a shift to health care. She wanted to help care for patients in the same way members of her own family had been cared for during vulnerable times in their lives.

Joann spent nine years at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village, where she began her nursing career working in the intensive care unit and cath lab, before taking on various leadership responsibilities. She finished her last three years there as the director of cardiovascular and neurovascular services prior to relocating to Rockford. Joann served as the director of case management and palliative care at SwedishAmerican, A Division of UW Health for three years before joining OSF HealthCare in 2017.

She earned her Associate Degree in nursing from the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Northern Illinois University and her Master of Healthcare Administration from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Away from work, Joann is a volunteer for the Saint Vincent DePaul Society; president of the Rockford Chapter of Legatus board of directors; a mentor for first generation college students; a past volunteer for Crusader Community Health fundraising events and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
